Sort special items before the loading day
The Northwest Vermont Solid Waste District provides resources for different disposal streams. Identify appliances, electronics, household chemicals, and recyclable material separately, then check the appropriate instructions. District membership does not make every material acceptable in a rented container. Keep retained documents and belongings out of the loading area so helpers do not have to guess.
Work backward from the property handover
Allow time to load, resolve excluded items, and collect the equipment while the current owner or manager can still authorize access. If repairs follow the clearance, describe that later debris separately. Ask about exchanges before the container is full; the deadline for returning keys does not establish a guaranteed pickup appointment.
Compare clearance and handover terms
Request the rental period, hauling, accepted contents, included weight, and exchange options. Clarify extra days and any separately arranged material handling if the property is not ready when expected.
