Do not equate Hilo's transfer station with a rental destination
County resources distinguish residential self-haul transfer-station use from commercial handling. A rented dumpster collected by a hauler is not the same arrangement as taking your own household load to a public facility. Ask the provider to confirm acceptable contents and disposal responsibility. Keep appliances, electronics, liquids and questionable building materials out of an ordinary mixed load until their handling has been agreed.
Protect the collection position while work continues
Mark the proposed container area and discuss the truck's working space before demolition starts. Keep temporary stockpiles from narrowing the exit, and do not use a soft verge merely because it is close to the room being cleared. If rain or another contractor changes the approach, tell the rental contact early. Arrange any container exchange around the work sequence rather than waiting until no loading space remains.
Compare the complete Hilo collection plan
Ask for the quoted material category, container size, included rental period, delivery and collection, weight terms and any exchange charge. Clarify how extra time, rejected materials or an unsuccessful collection visit would be handled before you begin loading.
